Altamin Limited (ASX: AZI) is an Australian-listed mineral exploration and development company focused on projects in Italy. Its portfolio includes geothermal brines containing potassium, lithium and boron, alongside zinc, lead, silver and cobalt exploration and development opportunities. The Company’s stated strategy supports European objectives for domestic raw material supply, the energy transition and sustainable development, including the European Green Deal, the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Lazio Project is Altamin’s flagship asset and principal development focus. The wholly owned project is located approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Rome and comprises six exploration licences covering approximately 11,086 hectares within the Cesano geothermal area. The licences encompass Campagnano, Galeria, Melazza, Cassia, Sacrofano and Sabazia. Historical exploration by Italian electricity utility ENEL during the 1970s and 1980s included geophysical surveys, deep drilling and pilot plant trials, providing an extensive technical dataset for the project’s evaluation. Lazio is being evaluated for the production of sulphate of potash (SOP), with additional opportunities to recover lithium and boron from the geothermal brines. SOP is a low-chloride potassium fertiliser used for crops including fruit, vegetables and vines. The proposed processing route would use heat from the geothermal brines to support mechanical evaporation, without requiring surface evaporation ponds. Technical work has included laboratory testing using simulated Cesano brines, reservoir assessment, process engineering, logistics studies and environmental assessment activities. These workstreams support evaluation of the project’s technical and commercial viability and its potential to supply European agricultural and industrial markets. The Gorno Project is a wholly owned zinc, lead and silver mine redevelopment project in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Gorno contains defined Mineral Resources and substantial infrastructure from historical underground mining, including more than 20 kilometres of primary underground development identified by the Company as useful for future access, exploration and development. The proposed redevelopment is intended to produce zinc and lead concentrates for European smelters and offtake customers. Altamin has also been evaluating opportunities to realise value through a sale or strategic partnership, with Argent Partners advising on that process. The Punta Corna Project is a wholly owned exploration project in Piedmont, northern Italy, held through Altamin’s subsidiary Strategic Minerals Italia Srl. The project encompasses a historical underground cobalt mine with associated nickel, copper and silver mineralisation. Existing mine workings and mineralised vein exposures provide a basis for further exploration. The project is located near transport infrastructure and a hydroelectric facility, and offers potential for a future European source of cobalt, subject to further exploration and technical evaluation.
