Next Generation of Mining

The mining industry is facing a demographic crisis as a significant portion of its workforce nears retirement. To ensure a sustainable future, the industry must attract young talent and foster diversity. 

Resourcing Tomorrow is dedicated to fostering the connection between industry and the future workforce. The NextGen @ Resourcing Tomorrow Programme is designed to engage young minds, reshape perceptions, promote diversity, and address the skills gap.

We will be inviting 150+ students to attend the event to meet with the industry face-to-face in a dedicated networking session, as well as on the show floor, and in the conference theatres.

NextGen Networking Session: This is a networking session open to graduates and potential employees. Cut out the small talk and get straight to business. All participants will attend with the sole purpose of making connections. There will be 20 future potential employers for graduates to meet, a cross section of miners, investors & financiers, consultants, technology providers, law firms and other prospective employers. The future of the mining industry hinges on attracting a new generation of talented individuals. This interactive panel discussion puts the spotlight directly on students, allowing them to share their perspectives and what they are looking for in a mining career.

The discussion will explore:
• Motivations and Perceptions: What initially draws students to consider a career in mining? What are their current perceptions of the industry, both positive and negative?
• Career Aspirations: What kind of work environments and roles are most appealing to students? Are they interested in traditional mining operations, exploration, or technology-driven aspects?
