Mongolian Minerals is a mining company specializing in fluorspar, the main source of fluorine for the chemical industry.
Fluorspar is a “stealth battery mineral”, since fluorine is used extensively in the manufacturing of lithium batteries. It appears amongst others in the electrolyte salt, electrolyte solvent additives, cathode binders, graphite processing steps, and is also used in the manufacture of solar photovoltaic panels and semiconductor chips.
In addition to being a battery mineral it is also classified as a strategic mineral by the US, the EU, and China. It is a key mineral for both the energy transition and the AI revolution.
During the last 15 years Mongolian Minerals has acquired a portfolio of fluorspar licences in Mongolia and explored most of them extensively. The largest licence in the portfolio has been taken up to JORC/43-101 feasibility standard and is ready for development.
