Alex Kalenkov

Alex Kalenkov is the Chair/President of the Steel, Metals and Mining Association of Ukraine (Ukrmetalurgprom), the leading industry association representing Ukraine’s steel, mining, and metallurgical sectors. He has led the organization since 2015, serving as a key advocate for the industry's development, competitiveness, and integration into global markets.

Prior to heading Ukrmetalurgprom, Kalenkov held several senior government positions, including First Deputy Head of the State Agency for Management of State Corporate Rights and Property, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine on Economic Affairs, and Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine. He has also worked extensively with international investment companies and Ukrainian financial-industrial groups in both Ukraine and the United States.

As a leading voice for Ukraine’s steel and mining sector, Kalenkov has been actively engaged in addressing wartime challenges facing the industry, including logistics, exports, supply chain resilience, workforce shortages, and industrial recovery. He is a frequent speaker at major international mining and metals conferences, where he provides insights into the future of Ukraine’s resource sector and its role in global supply chains.
