Braim Chiple

Braim Chiple is Chief Commercial Officer of Codelco, the world’s largest copper producer, a role he assumed in March 2024. He is responsible for leading the company’s global commercial strategy, including sales, marketing, and customer relationships across Codelco’s copper and byproduct portfolio.

With more than two decades of experience in the mining and metals sector, Mr. Chiple has built a strong track record in copper marketing, trading, and commercial leadership. He began his career at Enersis and went on to hold senior roles at BHP, where he served in commercial and marketing positions focused on raw materials.

He later joined Anglo American, where he spent over a decade in increasingly senior roles, culminating as Head of Marketing and Sales for Copper, based in Singapore. In this capacity, he led global commercial strategy, overseeing sales and procurement of copper products and managing key customer and partner relationships worldwide.

Most recently, prior to joining Codelco, Mr. Chiple served as a senior advisor and consultant in copper trading for Mitsubishi Corporation’s metals division in South America.

He holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from the University of Chile, with specializations in business administration and economics. Mr. Chiple is widely recognized for his expertise in global copper markets, strategic negotiations, and building high-performing commercial organizations in complex international environments.
