John Lindberg

John Lindberg is Senior Manager – Policy and Government Affairs Principal at the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), where he leads the organization's global policy agenda and multilateral engagement strategy. In this role, he oversees cross-cutting policy initiatives and high-level engagement with governments, intergovernmental organizations, and international institutions on issues related to responsible mining, critical minerals, sustainability, and the energy transition.

Prior to joining ICMM in 2022, John held a range of policy and public affairs positions across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, advising governments, parliamentarians, industry associations, and think tanks on energy policy, regulation, advocacy, and risk communication. He has represented both government and industry in United Nations processes and is widely recognized for his expertise in risk perception and communication.

John holds degrees from the University of Glasgow and King’s College London, and is completing a PhD in social psychology and risk perception through King’s College London and Imperial College London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and serves as Co-Facilitator of the Business and Industry Major Group (BIMG) to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
