Madalina Ivanica

Dr. Madalina Ivanica is Head of the Critical Raw Materials Centre within the European Commission's Directorate‑General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), where she plays a key role in shaping European policy on critical raw materials, industrial resilience, and strategic value chains supporting the energy transition and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Prior to her current role, she served as Deputy Head of Unit for Energy Intensive Industries and Raw Materials in DG GROW, overseeing policy initiatives related to raw materials security, industrial competitiveness, and sustainable supply chains. Her work has been closely linked to the implementation of the EU's Critical Raw Materials agenda and strengthening Europe's access to strategic minerals required for clean technologies and battery production.

Before joining DG GROW, Dr. Ivanica worked within the European Commission's Directorate‑General for Environment, focusing on EU enlargement, accession negotiations, and inter-institutional relations. Earlier in her career, she served as Advisor to Romania's Chief Negotiator for accession to the European Union and held academic leadership positions, including Director of Studies and Associate Professor in European Studies at Maastricht University.
