Melinda serves as VP Innovation and Commercial Development for Ivanhoe Atlantic Inc., spearheading the company’s customer, freight, and innovation engagements for its iron ore project in Guinea-Liberia.
Amid fluctuating global markets, Melinda has a distinguished track record in commercial strategy, funding, and industry innovation leadership, with over 25 years of broad-ranging global commodity sector experience, focused on improving global supply chain resilience and regional sustainability, with bulk iron ore shipments her first love.
Notably, Melinda was the first to forecast China’s emergence as a major steel exporter; part of the team that transitioned iron ore pricing to more flexible market-driven mechanisms; and the first woman to trade iron ore financial derivatives.
Melinda's expertise also extends to digital supply chain financing and metallurgical process technology advancements. Named an Inspirational Woman in Mining in 2013, Melinda served as Finance Director and Head of Global Outreach for Women in Mining UK from 2018 to 2022. Melinda is also a director of SMFG in Guinea.
