Stephen Mackie

Stephen Mackie is a senior metallurgy and mineral processing leader with SGS Natural Resources, where he serves as Senior Director, Metallurgy and Consulting in North America and, more recently, as Vice President, Metallurgy and Consulting. Based at SGS’s renowned Lakefield Metallurgical Centre of Excellence in Ontario, Canada, he leads multidisciplinary teams supporting mining projects from exploration through feasibility, process development, and operations.

With more than two decades of experience in metallurgy, hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, and technical consulting, Stephen has played a key role in advancing mining and critical minerals projects across North America and internationally. His expertise spans metallurgical testing, flowsheet development, process optimization, technical leadership, and integrated consulting services for a broad range of commodities.

A recognized expert in metallurgical process development, Stephen has contributed to some of the industry's most significant research and testing initiatives. He has emphasized the importance of robust metallurgical programs in helping mining companies advance projects from exploration and feasibility through to production, supporting informed decision-making and project success.
